Murrieta Valley wide receiver Marquis Spiker enters his senior season already holding the Inland record with 45 career touchdown receptions.

The triple crown of career Inland receiving records is well within his grasp.

Spiker, who has committed to Washington, has hauled in 161 passes over his first two varsity seasons, good for ninth place in Inland history. Spiker will need only 34 catches this season to break the current mark of 194 career receptions held by Tahquitz’s Michael Stewart (2011-13).

Spiker already ranks third in Inland history with 3,166 receiving yards during his career. He needs only 587 yards this season to break the area record of 3,752 yards held by Centennial’s Javon McKinley (2013-15).

With a big senior campaign, Spiker has an outside chance to break the state records for career receiving yards and career touchdown catches.

According to, the state record for career receiving yards is 5,148 by Canyon Country Canyon’s Drew Wolitarsky (2009-12). The state record for career touchdown catches is 66 by Los Angeles Cathedral’s Earvin Johnson (1998-2000). Spiker would need 1,983 yards and 22 touchdown catches this season to break those records.
